This page sets out what this site can and cannot do about safer gambling, and offers general practical advice for anyone reading a list of pokies operators.
What this build controls: nothing
This site is a set of static pages. It has no account, no form and no server-side application behind it, so it cannot switch on or enforce a deposit cap, a loss cap, a reality check, a cooling-off period or self-exclusion. Those controls exist only inside an account at whichever destination a reader ends up on after following an operator link. Setting them up, changing them or relying on them is something arranged there, not here.
Nobody's age is checked on this site and no gambling takes place on it. The eighteen-and-over restriction appears throughout this build, including on the front page and at the end of every operator listing, but confirming it is a matter for the destination once a reader leaves. Each of the ten operator listings ends with the same line: check availability and the current terms at the destination before claiming anything, since eligibility rules and terms apply there and can change without notice. Once a link is followed, the destination's own rules, checks and account controls take over; everything a reader can actually do with money happens after that point, not on this site. There is also no advertising or behavioural profiling network running on these pages, so nothing here is targeted at a reader who has shown signs of risky play.
Practical habits: worth keeping
Decide the amount before starting and treat it as already spent. Deciding in advance removes the in-the-moment temptation to justify one more round, and treating the stake as gone rather than "at risk of loss" makes it easier to stop when it runs out.
Never chase a loss. Increasing a bet to win back what's gone tends to enlarge the loss rather than recover it, because the odds of the game have not changed. Keep gambling money separate from anything borrowed, since a loss that touches debt or rent money causes harm well beyond the game itself. Take breaks during a session; stepping away for even a few minutes interrupts the momentum that keeps people playing past their own limit. If gambling stops feeling like entertainment and starts feeling like an obligation, involve someone else early — a partner, friend or one of the organisations linked below — rather than waiting for the situation to force the conversation.
Independent help is linked at the top and bottom of every page on this site, including this one: gambleaware.nsw.gov.au, gamblinghelponline.org.au and responsiblegambling.vic.gov.au. Unlike the operator links elsewhere on this site, these three carry no sponsored marking, are set to nofollow, and open in a separate tab on the organisations' own websites. This site receives nothing when a reader follows them.
